The grease ball in question is Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) and he unfortunately represents the 8th district in Florida. This jerk is no stranger to controversial comments. On September 30th, he made an infamous comment on the House floor that the “Republican Plan” for healthcare was to tell Americans “not to get sick” and if they do, “die quickly.” He refused to apologize for those comments and began raising money for his campaign. On another occasion, Rep. Grayson compared the healthcare crisis to “a Holocaust in America.” I mean, who in their right mind uses that kind of language, especially being JEWISH themselves? He did apologize to the Florida regional director of the Anti-Defamation League for that comment.
His latest comment is the most controversial and despicable of them all. During an interview on the Alex Jones radio show, that occurred about a month ago, Rep. Grayson said that Linda Robertson, a Fed advisor to Chairman Ben Bernanke, is a “K street whore.” Here is the actual comment:
“Here I am the only member of Congress who actually worked as an economist, and this lobbyist, this K Street whore, is trying to teach me about economics.”
Why K street and not G? Robertson used to be an Enron lobbyist and K street in Washington, D.C. is where many lobbyists have their offices. Can you imagine the uproar if a Republican congressman/woman had made that comment? They would have been forced to resign. Not here. Since, Rep. Grayson is a Democrat, there is more leniency towards his comments and behavior. I guess the Democrats never heard of the saying, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
If you are thinking along with me that his comments are sexist and deplorable, we are not along. Members of Congress also strongly disagree with Rep. Grayson’s comments and the funny part, Democrats are also against him !!
“There’s no call for that language. No call for it. That’s absurd. If he was standing here now, I’d say that to him,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.)
“Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” asked Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)
“I think it’s inappropriate and unfair,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD)
“a bit extreme and rather sexist”, said Dana Titus (D-NV) of Rep. Grayson’s comment.
For the record, Rep. Grayson has apologized for the comment made towards Linda Robertson, but the damage has been done.
Where is the same outrage there was when Don Imus’s called the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team “nappy headed hoes” on his April 4 radio show? Where? That is why this country is in the shape it is. One day we support one cause and the other day we say, “It’s OK.” It is a joke. It is called hypocrisy and two-face !!
