Early Halloween at the White House

On Tuesday, President Obama hosted a 150 doctors, from 50 states, to rally support for his slacking healthcare reform bill. I thought Halloween was on Oct. 31, not the 6th. The Rose Garden was transformed into a Obama Doctors Halloween Bash. What a joke that was !! The doctors were told to bring their white coats to make sure that the TV cameras would capture the image. The funny thing is that some doctors forgot to bring the coats. This is propaganda at its finest. It is all about perception. If you see 150 doctors, some with coats and other not, you won’t take the message as serious as if they ALL had the coats on. The same thing happens with TV commercials and product placement within the stores.

So what happened? The White House handed out white coats, supplied by Doctors for America, to the doctors who forgot theirs. All of this just to counter the complaints from other doctors who oppose the proposed legislation.

There are over 800,000 doctors in the U.S. am I supposed to be convinced by what 150 of them believe? Hell NO !!

Here is what the media WON’T tell you:

Most of the 150 doctors, of whom 50 we know of, that attended the staged rally are members of the organization, Doctors for America (DFA). What you may not know is that DFA, before the elections, was called Doctors for Obama. After the elections, the name was changed to DFA, less political. I did some of my own research and found out that within the audience of doctors was the President/Co-founder, Vice-President, National Field Director, Regional and State Directors, and a Senior Advisor of DFA. There are 5 regional directors, one being Sanjay Gupta from CNN, within the crowd and they are in charge of 29 out of 50 states for the organization.

DFA spokeswoman Megan Smith said that roughly 98% of the organization’s 15,000 members support a public option. She also said that 40 of the 150 do belong to Doctors for America. I believe the number is higher. White House spokesman Reid Cherlin described the group of doctors as “the best voices for reform because they witness the current healthcare system on a day to day basis.”

I wouldn’t go that far because a lot of these individuals are professors who have in the past practiced, but currently do not. Some do currently practice medicine and are in touch with the day to day crisis. Many sit on multiple boards and are not involved with the “average Joe”. Cherlin insisted that the doctors “were not invited based on their support for a public option.” Really? So it is a coincidence that almost every doctor in attendance support the public plan and is a member of Doctors for Obama, I mean America? No my friends, it is not. This was perfectly staged and planned to the last word, handshake, movement, and picture as I mentioned earlier into the post.

Below is a list of confirmed members of Doctors for America , their title within the organization, and the states that fall within their region if they are regional directors:

Dr. Alexander Blum (New York, NY) – National Field Director
Dr. Alice Chen (Los Angeles, CA) – Vice President
Dr. Andrew Loehrer (Indianapolis, IN) – State Director
Dr. Elaine Bradshaw (Santa Fe, NM) – Regional Director – WA,AZ,NM,MN,WY,ID,OR,UT,CO,NV
Dr. Meg Sarnecki (Missoula, MT) – State Director
Dr. Michael Newman (Washington, DC) – Senior Advisor
Dr. Mona Mangat (St. Petersburg, FL) – Regional Director – FL,GA, AL
Dr. Nirali Bora (Providence, RI) – Regional Director – CT,RI,NH,VT,ME,MA
Dr. Sanjay Gupta (Cherry Hill, NJ) – Regional Director – PA,WV,MD,NJ,DE
Dr. Vivek Murthy (Boston, MA) – President/Co-founder
Dr. Winfred Parnell (Dallas, TX) – Regional Director – TX,OK,AR,MS,LA
Dr. Zaneb Beams (Ellicott City, MD) – Deputy

  1. I'm afraid you have some incorrect information in this post. Sanjay Gupta of CNN is NOT a member of Doctors for America. (It's a fairly common name.) Less than 50 of the 150 attendees were members of Doctors for America and all of them were wearing their own coats – the ones they wear to see patients every day. Zoom in on any Doctors for America member and you'll see their name embroidered on their coats.

While a number of the members of Doctors for America previously advocated for the Obama health plan over the McCain health plan, you fail to report that Doctors for America is its own non-profit, non-partisan, 501c(3) volunteer organization. Doctors for America is not funded by or affiliated with any political party or politician.

Finally, you should note that 150 of the country's 800,000 physicians were at the Rose Garden because the Rose Garden can hold 150 people. Importantly, though, the majority of this country's physicians DO support reform. The New England Journal of Medicine reported, recently, that 72% of physicians in this country support reform with some form of a public option (http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/NEJMp0908239). Moreover, 8 of the 10 largest medical societies, representing more than 500,000 physicians have endorsed reform legislation.

The point is that the 150 physicians at the White House last week really do represent the majority of doctors.

The real question is why do so many physicians so adamantly want reform.

You are correct about Sanjay Gupta and that is about it. I am not denying the fact that those who attended the circus at the Rose Garden are doctors. What I am saying is that a lot of them did not bring their own lab coats as instructed. So what happens, Doctors for America, hands out white coats to those who failed to bring their own. Why was it important to have the doctors wearing their white coats? Because it shows professionalism. Would you stop if an undercover cop tells you to or would you be more inclined to stop if a uniformed cop said so? You know the answer.

Don't forget, like I said above int he post, Doctors for America used to be Doctors for Obama before the elections. It is safe to say that those within the group where there for the ride, before the elections campaigning for the Messiah.

Let's not forget that only the names of 50 out of the 150 doctors that attended were made public. How many more doctors of Doctors for America where there?

The majority of the country's doctors do not support reform because it affects them and forces them to ration healthcare. They are going to be hit financially also. Check out this poll: http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=506199&Ntt= and this one http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/Article.aspx?id=506309&Ntt=

Just because 8 out of the 10 largest medical organizations support healthcare reform, it means nothing. Why? Because the organization only speaks for itself and not the individuals it employs. It is ludicrous to believe that every single doctor in these organizations supports healthcare reform. If your job came out and said tomorrow that they support McCain over Obama in the next elections; does that represent your personal belief? No, that is what the company decided.

In conclusion, the doctors that are mentioned in the post are coincidently tied to an organization that supported the president during the election process. Go figure !!
