Former President Jimmy Carter basically said earlier in the week that Rep. Joe Wilson, the people who have been protesting at the town halls, and those who voice their disagreement with President Obama have animosity toward President Barrack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man”. Yes, Jimmy Carter called all of us who do not want a government-run healthcare system and a socialist government racists.
Here is what Jimmy Carter said straight from the donkey’s (no pun intended) mouth:
Mr. President before making the allegation that the majority of the Republican party are a bunch of racists, you should have someone go back in history and make sure you have not said something MORE racists than the ones you are accusing. The video below is from the Democratic National Convention in 2008 and in it President Jimmy Carter calls Obama a “black boy” instead of using his name.
The excerpt below is taken from a Time magazine article (April 19, 1976).
The furor began when Carter was asked in Indianapolis to explain his recent statement that there was “nothing wrong with ethnic purity being maintained” in neighborhoods. Carter replied that he wholeheartedly supports open-housing laws that make it a crime to refuse to sell or rent a house or apartment on the grounds of race, color or creed. But he opposes Government programs “to inject black families into a white neighborhood just to create some sort of integration.” Said he: “I have nothing against a community that is made up of people who are Polish, or who are Czechoslovakians, or who are French Canadians or who are blacks trying to maintain the ethnic purity of their neighborhoods. This is a natural inclination.”
So it turns out Mr. Carter that all along YOU are the racist you see in the Republican party. Maybe next time you think and research before you open your big mouth.
